Ceramic work – how much does it cost?
The price for ceramic work is calculated according to several parameters: 1. Size in square meters of the surface on which you want to perform the ceramic work. 2. Number of cuts that will need to be made. 3. Type/size of the ceramic tiles. 4. Method of work: Gluing over old ceramic / mounting on concrete casting. 5. Including but not including gun and panels.
The price range is between 100-250 NIS per square meter.
Gluing ceramics onto old flooring
The cheapest and fastest way is to glue ceramic tiles onto old tiles that were laid on a cement and mortar foundation. In some cases this is possible and even recommended, and in exceptional cases it is not recommended. The main advantage of gluing ceramics is the savings in the costs of dismantling the old ceramics, removing the garbage, and the costs of cement sand and cement. The main disadvantage is that the floor is raised by 1-4 cm.
Ceramic flooring on poured concrete
The most professional way is to perform ceramic work on a leveled concrete casting, onto which we will pour a sesame foundation and adhere the ceramics with mortar and sand. Under no circumstances should ceramics be glued directly onto concrete casting without intermediate materials between the concrete casting and the ceramics. This is outside the standard and may cause cracks in the tiles after a few months due to movement of the structure.
Types of ceramic tiles
Marble flooring- A type of rock that comes in the form of natural stone slabs. You can choose the size of the tiles to suit your home design and personal taste.
Granite flooring- A very hard and durable rock, it usually comes in shades of red, pink, and gray.
Terrazzo tiles- Made from a mixture of cement and rock fragments or marble and familiar to us from homes in the 1980s. Excellent for hiding dirt, although this is a relatively old model, there are ceramic factories that have created innovations for the type of ceramic and you can find beautiful, new terrazzo tiles.
Terracotta flooring- Designed for outdoor flooring, made from natural material that undergoes a burning process and is considered luxurious, and comes in reddish brown tones that are mainly suitable for a rustic design style.
Clinker– A type of glazed terracotta flooring that provides the tile with greater durability and a large selection of shades.
ceramics- Porcelain tiles are coated with glaze and come in a variety of colors. The glaze also gives the flooring its special shine and makes it easy and convenient to clean. This flooring is mainly suitable for use in bathrooms.
Porcelain granite- Ceramics with a glaze that is integrated into the tile instead of coating it on the outside. This makes the tiles extremely durable and is why they are common in Israel. They come in a variety of designs and colors.
Concrete tiles- Made by casting and can come with patterns or reliefs, they are mainly used for bathrooms and kitchens with a rustic design. These tiles are not waterproof and absorb water, so they must be maintained and sealed with special materials.
Polished concrete- It is created by pouring it directly onto the paving surface, smoothing it, painting it, and then coating it with a sealant. Smoothed concrete floors can be created in various colors and designs, or it can be applied to an existing floor. The technique is expensive, and it is not possible to dismantle the flooring after it has been applied, so it is advisable to install special piping before applying the concrete, which will make it easier to repair in the event of a malfunction.
* Bathrooms require rough, anti-slip ceramics.
