How much does tree trimming cost? The complete guide to prices (and what they are made of)

Among our clients

A green, healthy tree in the yard is an asset, but when it grows wild, blocks the sun or threatens electrical wires – it becomes a hazard. Many customers ask us at "Handyman's Stones": ""How much does it cost to prune a tree?"". The answer, as in nature, is not uniform. Pruning a small lemon tree is not the same as pruning a 15-meter-tall Washingtonia palm. In this article, we will sort out the prices for you and explain what affects the quote you receive.

Why even prune? (It's not just for beauty)

Before we talk about the money, it's important to understand what you're paying for. Professional pruning provides three things:

  1. Safety: Preventing branches from collapsing on the house, vehicle, or, God forbid, on passersby.
  2. Tree health: Proper thinning allows light and air to penetrate, prevents disease, and encourages new growth (and fruit in fruit trees).
  3. Aesthetics and landscape: Tree design and maintaining a bright and well-maintained yard.

The 4 factors that determine the price

When we come to give a quote, we consider several parameters:

  1. Tree height and size: The taller the tree, the more complex the job. Short trees are pruned from the ground or from a ladder, while tall trees require climbing equipment (rappelling) or the use of a basket hoist – which makes the job more expensive but is necessary for safety.
  2. Type of wood: Each tree has its own character. Palm trees, for example, require a specific "cleaning" technique and their trunks are thorny and rough. Ficus or eucalyptus trees are massive and require more work time and physical strength.
  3. Accessibility: Is the tree in front of the house with easy access for a truck? Or is it "trapped" in a crowded backyard that requires manual removal of the branches through the house? A complicated approach lengthens the work time.
  4. Removal of trimmings: Pruning a large tree produces a mountain of branches and leaves. The price will often vary if the customer takes care of the removal (for example, on municipal tree removal days) or we remove the tree trimmings to an authorized site with a truck and crane.

Average price ranges (general estimate)

It is important to emphasize: the prices above are for estimation only and may vary depending on conditions on the ground.

  • Pruning small ornamental/fruit trees (up to 4 meters): It will usually range between 300 to 600 NIS. Suitable for citrus trees, young olive trees, etc.
  • Pruning a medium tree (4-7 meters): Range of 600 to 1,200 NIS. Requires working with high ladders and telescopic equipment.
  • Tree pruning Tall (over 7 meters) / Palm trees: Starting from800 ₪ committee 2,500 ₪ And more for complex trees that require a crane.
  • Additional lever: If there is no choice but to use a basket crane, the cost of the crane is added to the price of the work (usually per hour of work).

Cheap is expensive – beware of scammers

Tree pruning is one of the most dangerous areas in the renovation industry. A "gardener" who offers a suspiciously cheap price will often skimp on insurance or safety equipment. A branch that falls incorrectly can break roof tiles, destroy a pergola or damage power lines. At "Handyman Stones", we work with full insurance, standard equipment and extensive experience, so you can rest assured that the work will be done smoothly and cleanly.
