Installing ceramic tiles, whether it's flooring or wall coverings, is a craft that requires skill, precision, and attention to detail. To ensure quality work that lasts, it's important to follow a number of steps and techniques.

Here is an overview of the ceramic installation process:

1. Planning and measurements:

  • Layout planning: Before starting work, it is important to plan the layout of the ceramics on the surface, taking into account the size of the tiles, the direction of laying, and the location of central points such as openings or light fixtures.
  • Measurements: Accurate measurements of the area must be taken in order to calculate the amount of ceramic required and purchase enough material, taking into account approximately 10% additional tiles for cuts and depreciation.

2. Surface preparation:

  • Cleaning: The surface on which the ceramic will be installed must be thoroughly cleaned, removing dirt, dust and grease.
  • Alignment: If necessary, level the surface using mortar or other material to create a flat and smooth base for bonding.
  • Primer: In some cases, it is recommended to apply a layer of primer to the surface to improve adhesion.

3. Selection of materials:

  • Ceramic type: There are many types of ceramics, with different properties, sizes, colors, and designs. It is important to choose ceramics that are appropriate for the purpose of the space, environmental conditions, and your personal preferences.
  • paste: There are different types of ceramic adhesives, depending on the type of ceramic, the surface, and the working environment.
    • Cementitious adhesive: Suitable for most types of ceramics and surfaces.
    • Acrylic glue: Suitable for smaller, lighter ceramics, and for straight, smooth surfaces.
    • Epoxy glue: Suitable for wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens.
  • rifle: The gun also needs to be adapted to the type of ceramic and the working environment. An epoxy gun is more resistant to water and chemicals.

4. Installing the ceramics:

  • Applying the glue: Apply the adhesive to the surface using a serrated trowel to create an even layer with grooves.
  • Laying the ceramics: The ceramic should be placed on the adhesive, applying light pressure and gentle rotation.
  • Intervals: Ensure equal spacing between the ceramic tiles, using spacers or a level.
  • Alignment: Make sure that the ceramic tiles are perfectly aligned, both horizontally and vertically.
  • Cutting: If necessary, the ceramic should be cut to the appropriate size using appropriate cutting tools.

5. Rifle filling:

  • Filling: After the glue has dried, the gaps between the ceramic tiles should be filled with grout, using a rubber spatula.
  • Cleaning: Gun residue must be cleaned off the ceramic before it dries.

Additional tips:

  • Use appropriate tools: Serrated spatula, rubber spatula, spacers, level, cutting tools.
  • Work in an orderly and clean manner: Be sure to clean up the glue residue and gun in a timely manner.
  • Consult a professional: If in doubt, it is recommended to consult a professional sequencer.

Remember, installing ceramic tiles is a job that requires patience and precision. Following these steps and tips will ensure you get a quality result that will last for years.
